Part 5 - ESG/SDG Mapping Applications

In this section the transformational relationship between ESG and SDG frameworks is explored in a number of applications. Investopedia defines ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria as a set of standards for a company’s operations that socially conscious investors use to screen potential investments.

Environmental criteria consider how a company performs as a steward of nature. Social criteria examine how it manages relationships with employees, suppliers, customers, and the communities where it operates. Governance deals with a company’s leadership, executive pay, audits, internal controls, and shareholder rights.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or Global Goals are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all". The SDGs were set up in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and are intended to be achieved by the year 2030, with the following mission statement "A blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all by 2030".
